A welcome break

Just back from Glasgow and it's always nice to take a little break at this time of the year. Cheltenham has just ended and Fairyhouse, Aintree and Punchestown will all be busy times for me so I was glad to take a weekend away from racing. Had a bet on Celtic -2 at 6/4 which nearly came up! Nearly doesn't pay the bills however so I think I'll stick to the horses.

We've a lot of NH racing coming up still but I have to say, I'm starting to get excited about the flat classics now that the antepost markets are shaping up.

The flat is back

This week sees the return of flat racing.

After a difficult Cheltenham, I quite welcome it. Stakes will be kept to a minimum at first but as a betting medium, I find the level easier. Looking forward to some top quality action this year - hope to go to as many summer meetings as possible.

The Irish Independent asked me to offer some last minute advice before the festival so I hope some readers find it useful:

Can't believe the festival is tomorrow - can't wait!

Cracking Day

It's days like this which make all the form study worthwhile. I put up five bets on the site today and all won with just one horse odds-on.

As usual, I'm thinking I should have had more on! Still, it's a nice top up to the Cheltenham bank. Roll on next week!

Trading

As some of you know, I love to trade on Betfair and I'm always looking at new angles and ways to learn about the markets. Unfortunately, there are very few trading books about Betfair so I've started reading some trading books that relate to the stock exchange. So far so good! I've found that a lot of strategies can be carried over to the Betfair markets and I'm learning more and more every time I do a trading session.
Finding the time is the hardest part.

Taking the piss

The gambling gods are taking the piss out of me this week.

I write a trainers to follow article for Betfair and one of the trainers I'm currently following is Donald McCain.

He had Kris Kin Line running yesterday and the gelding went off at 91/1 on Betfair.

Ran well and even hit 1/2 in running - but got beat into second place.

Then,

McCain's Our Jim went off at 21/1 and hit 11/10 in-running and got beat today.

Also....

I put up Killard Point on Wayne Bailey Racing as a handicap bet today. It went off at 23/1 and hit 1/3 in running. You guessed it, it came second.

You've got to take these things on the chin or else you'd end up doing your nut!

Results update

I've updated the results section on Wayne Bailey Racing.

http://waynebaileyracing.com/freehorseracingtipsresults.aspx

Fairy pleased with how it is going with a profit of over €500 to €10 stakes. However, this does include the recovery and out of interest bets which are not really tips as such.

Happy with the dutching and hope to build on that this year.

Not long to the Festival now!
